Social Media – Connecting Them Together… Round 1: TweetDeck vs Twhirl

By Eileen

I’ve heard about software applications that allow folks to connect their blog posts to their Facebook account to their Twitter accounts and other social media.

These applications are a great idea as it can be quite time-consuming writing for these various accounts. And at the moment, I feel a bit in overwhelm as I am trying to post or tweet on these various accounts, as well as stay up-to-date on what others are writing AND keep abreast of new trends, videos, etc. …and have a life and job besides!

Today on Twitter, I noticed various “peeps” were using TweetDeck and Twhirl… So I checked them out.

I read the FAQs and Help on Twhirl and TweetDeck.  TweetDeck wins hands down, in my opinion. So, I downloaded it to give it test-drive.

I like the layout and user-friendliness of TweetDeck. The instructions I found non-techy friendly, that is, written in easy to understand language… and the layout of the page very visual and easy to use.  I also like the little ‘ping’ that lets me know someone else has tweeted… It also connects to Facebook so I can use one interface for both Twitter and Facebook.

However, on the downside, I haven’t yet found a way on TweetDeck to post-date my tweets or posts to Twitter or Facebook; nor can I connect to my blogs from TwitterDeck….

Twhirl offers a wider selection of social media networks, but it does not seem either to have a connection to one’s blog….

Do any of you know of a software application that would allow me to connect to a number of social medial as well as connecting to my blogs? Post a comment and let me know…. Thanks!
